I used to have the same problems as most people here but by updating my ati radeon driver, I managed to play hours without a single freeze. I also suggest to change display options during the game and not in main menu because it seemed to bring less freezes before I got the problem solved.

Game works fine here.
Downloaded the P2P version (10GB), the update v1.4 from 3DM (1.19GB) and that’s it.
Install game, unzip update to game folder (overwrite) and then apply crack (overwrite).
PLAY :)

How to play Sleeping Dogs Limited Edition:
- Download and unrar the files (in case you have any errors using the repair option in winrar file)
- Copy all the files into C:\Program Files (x86)\Sleeping Dogs
- Download 1.4 UPDATE FIX-NEW, unrar and copy all the files in the game folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Sleeping Dogs)
- Download the LANGUAGE CHANGER-MULTI7 and unrar it to the game folder
- PLAY DA GAIMZ!

Well, I copied everything over from the 1.4 folder and the game tells me it’s version 1.3 Not the best Skidrow release I’ve seen. I’ll have to work out what’s wrong on my own.

Can someone help.. 1.3 worked fine, after applying the 1.4 update the analogue sticks on my XB360 controller do not respond regardless of what settings I use in game.. oddly though the buttons still work & the XB360 icons are displayed in game.. anyone got any ideas WTF is going on..?

Problems :
– Game menu freeze -> Install update 1.4 solve the problem
– Get stuck at the clothin -> Install update 1.4 solve the problem
– Not HUD/UI -> Install update 1.4 solve the problem
– Infinite load -> Temporary set HD Textures to “Off” in advanced settings (I think something is wrong with the differend *HD.* files and game, maybe, can’t load some of them)
– Graphics options are not saved -> When you’ve changed the advanced options press the “E” key to save them, BUT when getting back in the menu with “Backspace” click “No” on the popup question “Would you like to save” (Clicking “yes reset to default your setting).
– Stuck on first logos screen -> Something is wrong with the file UI.big (Partial 1.4 update in my case, this file was missing).
– For crashes, don’t forget that Sleeping dogs is note supporterd with Windows XP (Official Steam description http://store.steampowered.com/app/202170/) .This kind of error is very common with windows and can be caused by a lot of reason depending of different computers configurations.
– For “Azerty” users, don’t forget to change the key “Q” in the vehicule controls, this one is used twice (Maybe due to a keyboard mapping only on WASD key to ZQSD).
for all those with WHITE SCREEN CRASH AFTER STARTUP ….a figured it out YOU HAVE TO REINSTALL YOUR WINDOWS TO DRIVE C:\ ..thats all ..ive done it myself and its working 100% NOW ::….Awesome game!!

This is not patch 1.4 guys. This is version 1.3 patch ONLY. NOW unless they took patch 1.4 and updated everything else beside the *.exe which is version 1.3. I would not think so!

cant anyone tell me where i find the sleeping dogs savegames?
a) Go to C:\Program Files (x86) and create folder called Sleeping Dogs
b) Extract all the parts in the folder you just created
c) Once you extract all the parts , extract the “SleepingDogs1.4Update” and take all the files from the “13242111sdu14″ folder and copy them to Sleeping Dogs folder.
d) Go to SleepingDogsCrack , extract it and take all the files from the “3212312121214crrkk” folder and copy them to Sleeping Dogs folder.
e) Once you done all the 4 steps , go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Sleeping Dogs and launch HKShip.exe

i think i have the solution i think… but it’s weird.. you see.. the dlc from here says TRIAD ENFORCER, since the correct one must be called GSP… in steam they got the same problem and they changed it… so if i’m not wrong… which i think i’m not… this is the normal version with a useless DLC which is bad…. because if you want the dlc you must find a Sleeping Dogs Version with the correct DLC named DLC Georges St. Pierre.. i may find one myself and i hope it’s ok.. otherwise i have to play a normal bugged version or wait till skid runs a good one.

Finally got mine to work. This may help some people.
At first when I tried to run it i got the “program has stopped working” error. Then I updated my graphics drivers, and directx, then I did the 1.4 update (the 1.2gb one), then applied the crack.
At this point I was able to get into the game menus, but as soon as I go to benchmark or new game, the game would just load indefinitely.
So then I started over with the original files again. I applied the 3212312121214crrkk.rar crack. With this one I was able to play the game all the way up to the point where u have to buy some clothes, then it would stop working. Also it would freeze whenever I tried to go into the settings, and I couldn’t pause the game.
So finally, I started over with the original files again, then applied the newer 321311221212210TO14.rar update/crack and then……. It worked perfectly. I didn’t have to run as administrator, or disable desktop composition. It takes me less than 10 seconds to load the game, everything works great so far. I’m bout 2-3hrs in, and performance is good on my 2.2ghz quad, 260m gtx, 4gb ram, windows 7 64bit laptop. Looks like an excellent game at this point.
I have a problem with one of the later on missions in the game (Civil Discord), I get told to go round to the alleyway at the back of the Golden Koi restaurant and the game just crashes with the message HKShip.exe has stopped working anyone having the same problem or willing to help me? Thanks :)

ok for a few people having trouble i will try to clear it up for you
1. Unrar the 11 files (if you did it in parts) to a folder on your desktop
2. rename the folder to Sleeping dogs (the folder is made after you unrar and it has a few numbers in it just delete name and rename to Sleeping dogs)
3. move that file to (C:) >program files (x86) or just program files
4. download 1.4 UPDATE FIX-NEW
5. unrar it and paste the files in (C:) > Program files > Sleeping dogs
6. Click HKship play and enjoy

You probably have to Format your hard disk and reinstall Windows to C:/

You can go through the Windows Administrative tools and try to change the partition letter there but i am not sure if that will work…

Yikes, so many problems and im still using the 1.3 crack without any crashes or slow downs or anything i even tried it with a gt 520 and it works fine, as for the xp questions, no it will crash. a lot. it was not optimized for xp. Mainly, cuz MS has stopped supporting it. Also i thnk it was built on DX 10 and 11 which xp wont support. Works great on 7 though and i have 8gb of ram to play with. And a lot of ppl seem to have overflow errors – thats a ram issue.
