Is it safe to download/install this DLC if I own the base game on Steam? I bought Skyrim for $30 and don’t feel like paying another $20 for DLC…
hey chris considering that the exe executable file will probably be replaced when you install the dlc then i think it would be checked by the steam’s secure systems but straight to the point: it’s not good to do this and if you do so try this procedure:
1# Install the game in a deferent hard drive (could be a virtual divided hard drive)
2# Create another account on steam (if it is not possible to do the first step then begin on this line)
3# Install the DLC
4# Crack it (but i think is already cracked)
5# And have fun but do not use your account that contains the original games!!

I think you should be alright, because this doesn’t even require any crack or anything of that sort. It’s literally just like installing a mod–add the bsa and esm files to your data folder. That simple.

Why not Mediafire or something? These sites limit you to 50KB/s, 150KB/s if you register. Better yet, a torrent link would work just fine.
why is this so big? another torrent site reads 569mb. 1.7 patch and crack cant be more than 500mb.

i copied the files over to the main skyrim directory but nothing happen to the game is there any way i can check if the dlc truely worked because some of the new features are not available
I think you should put them in you “data” folder in the skyrim directory, not the directory itself.

Is the DLC working for you?
Because I can’t get access to the DATA FILES section on the launcher and in game not a single guard is talking about the Dawnguard and I can’t find the cavern where it is suppose to be on the XBox 360 version.
Any idea? Do I have to restart the game frome the beginning?

You need to add lines to the Skrim .ini file. Google ” data files greyed out” for instructions.

I would suggest you use the Nexus Mod Manager to tick the DLC. That is the fastest way around any issues with the data files section being greyed out in Skyrim. There are others you can google but that is the method I would use.
I had that problem a few moths ago, can’t remember how to fix it but it’s easy, just google it. (:
You haveto add somelines to the skyrim .ini file. Google “data files greyed out in Skyrim”.
You need to add [Launcher] bEnableFileSelection=1 at the TOP of the SkyrimPref.ini that is in your My Games folder (C:\…\My Games\Skyrim), NOT in the installation folder!
You have to select the files on the launcher… If data files is grey you have to go to Documents/My games/Skyrim and open skyrimprefs.ini and in the [Launcher] line add this:
bEnableFileSelection=1
bShowAllResolutions=1
uLastAspectRatio=3
bLoadLooseFiles=1

its not working ..atleast for me….nothing happen..after copying to game folder and launching game no one talk about dawnguard in game or any lead to quests..no new place added…also tried BSA unpacker …

The first guard I talked to in Breezeholm started the dawnguard quest.
Make sure you put the iles in the right place.

Go to Documents/My Games/Skyrim folder and find SkyrimPrefs.ini
Add this line bEnableFileSelection=1 under “[LAUNCHER]” in the file.
Start the game over launcher, click on DATA FILES and tick Dawnguard on.

But the DLC is only in Englisch language.

I downloaded and extracted to my skirim folder and when I try to run it i get Bethesda logo and then game crash.When I start by loader and then in data files uncheck dawnguard game starts normally.Anyone can help me? Maybe its because when i played skyrim i downloaded files and changed my language?

Is the update included in this ? Because I download another Dawnguard without update and it works until you transform into vampire lord. Then you lose control (cannot click any mouse button, game doesn’t react to them -.-)
