appearently windows xp users can not play the game. which is only due to some functions missing in the xp kernel32.dll. these calls can be redirected to a modified dll that actually has these functions.

he only problem is: the FLT crack also uses functions that are not present in the xp kernel32. and those functions have NOT been included in the dll that steam forums guy has made.
so is anyone able to include those? also it would be kinda awesome if the crack would enable xp users to play the game.

Rapidshare links are down and when I download part 12 through Putlocker it says that “the archive is either in unknown format or damaged”, I’m trying now uploaded but it’s too slow

hey guys, I am not familiar with this kind of download, I can´t find an image to mount and there is no executable on the game, so how do I get to play this? I see a whole bunch of folders and files, but I can´´t execute them, is this some sort of steam playable game or something like that? Thanks in advance for the help.

Hey, guys! There’s a new release with all the correct files, DLC and update. But the installation is a bit complicated… maybe can be used to make another release, SKiDROW-style.

Anyone having the ““failed to find default engine .ini file to retrieve my documents sybdirectory to use. Force quitting”” problem do this:
- Open the directory where you installed/extracted the files
- Browse to \XComGame\Config
- Copy ALL files in this directory to:
C:\Users\xxxxx\Documents\My Games\XCOM – Enemy Unknown\XComGame\Config
- Win

I’m also having problems with file engine.ini, already tried to make copies of the files, but then I researched throughout the folder I saw that the file does not exist, is missing, how can I do to resolve this?

A guy on thepiratebay posted a link to some files you need to put into your win32 folder to make the pirated version work on XP. It worked for me!!

it includes the files from the kawaiisara fix, and a modified steanm_api.dll, for the pirated version.
it loads but when i hit the single player after some seconds i get exe failure window and the game is not responding in task manager application
I think he screwed it. If you use hex editor you can notice that he changed way too many things. He was supposed to switch all “kernel32.dll” to “zernel32.dll” but he switched every “kernel” to “zernel”
and thats the problem, because inside zernel32.dll are normal Kernel libraries and program wont be able to call them properly (correct me, if I am wrong)
well, his archives are not working for me…
Hope some1 else do a correct version so I can play the game, cuz im not into hex and even if i have what to change?

please guys – your discription to the engine.ini problem is really not all too clear.
2 issues:
1.) – Open the directory where you installed/extracted the files
– Browse to \XComGame\Config
—> there are no folders in the directory where i extracted the files so i cannot browse to the folder XComGame\Config and hence cannot copy all files that are contained there to a different location
2.) C:\Users\xxxxx\Documents\My Games\XCOM – Enemy Unknown\XComGame\Config
-> I got a german windows version so there is no “My Games” folder in my Documents folder and therefore i cannot create the folder manually – any ideas for the german path where the files, that i couldnt find so far, have to go?
Additionally:
I’ve tried to make the folder by simply creating new folders in users/my documents directory (in german its called differently though obviously) in both german and english – then i copied all *.ini files I could find in the unpacked xcom folder into the config folder i had created before – still same problem

i am also having the default engine ini issue. it appears the actual file is missing. it would be greatly appreciated if someone would locate that file and copy and paste its contents here so i can copy another ini file over-write that information and then rename it to DefaultEngine.ini
upon further testing of the defaultengine ini issue.
i was able to copy another ini file and name it to defaultengine ini and delete all the inside garbage
now i get “fail to MyDocumentsSubDirName= key in Defaultengine ini force quitting”
so i manually typed in:
[MyDocumentsSubDirName]
MyDocumentsSubDirName=C:\Users\xxxxx\Documents\My Games\XCOM – Enemy Unknown\XComGame\Config
now upon trying to run the game i do not get any error, it just simply doesnt continue.
this says to me that there needs to be more information besides what i typed in.
If anyone is kind enough to copy the text here that would be great. im in a location where only the work computer have internet and my gaming computer can not

Hello guys. I have a major problem and I do not know what to do. I downloaded the game and when I tried to run the crack only it gave this message: “Failed to find default engine.ini file to retrieve My Documents subdirectory to use. Force quitting.” I like this game and I will be grateful if someone gives me a solution. Thanks :)
Also I do not know if i need to install steam or not to play the game. If you can tell me that as well it would be fine.
